Complete Streets are designed and operated to enable safe access for all users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, motorists and transit riders of all ages and abilities. They do not have a one size fits all standard so, they may look different and contain different elements depending on the location and use. All streets may not have sidewalks, bike lanes, and transit facilities; they will vary with respect to the community, context of their location, and how they are used.
In this program we are replacing bridges that have significantly deteriorated and are near the end of their life expectancies (70+ years). These improvements will enhance connectivity and access between neighborhoods.
Resurfacing projects preserve and maintain city roads. These projects encompass milling, resurfacing, and restriping of existing roadways. The projects may also include sub-base patching, curb installations/repair, ADA ramp installations and restriping for bicycle lanes.
Roadway improvement projects enhance and improve existing city roads. These projects vary in scope, but may encompass widening for turn lanes, paving gravel roads, constructing new roadway extensions and roundabouts, along with resurfacing, striping and sidewalk improvements.
Sidewalk repairs will provide ADA compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act) accessibility around the City for all pedestrians.
Traffic signals are being upgraded and optimized throughout Atlanta. These upgrades may include replacing traffic lights, pedestrian buttons, equipment and communication systems, and school-zone beacons.
Multi-use trails are pathways designed to promote a healthy lifestyle for many users, including pedestrians, joggers and bikers.
Archived projects achieved substantial completion at least one year ago.
