Allen Smith serves as Deputy Commissioner for the Office of Transportation Infrastructure Management (TIM) with the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT). A City of Atlanta public servant for more than 15 years, he most recently headed the TIM Streets and Sidewalks team.
Smith currently oversees operation and maintenance of more than 4,500 lane miles of pavement, 1,400 miles of sidewalks, 100,000 signs, and 965 signals. His team also has completed more than 20,000 pothole repairs, developed a sidewalk repair prioritization model driven by safety, equity, and mobility, created an in-house speed table construction team, and more than doubled internal salt capacity storage for winter weather events.
A graduate of Georgia State University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, Smith earned an MBA from Louisiana State University-Shreveport and is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Construction Manager (CCM). His personal mission is to create a safer transportation network for everyone traveling in the City of Atlanta.
