The Atlanta River Lands Trail project will create a linear river park for the City of Atlanta; the project will serve as a connection. The project will begin at the eastern end at Standing Peachtree Park with connectivity to the park’s existing parking lot and the city’s proposed canoe launch. The trail will bridge over Peachtree Creek and follow the river side of the COA Watershed Management’s driveway connecting into the existing trail at the CSX railroad trestle. The project will rehabilitate the existing trail which is currently closed along the river and extend a new trail west along the Metro Green Concrete Recycling plant property adjacent to the existing Marietta Road dirt roadbed ending with a new trailhead parking area and a river overlook. Marietta Road will be paved for improving public access to the western end of the river park. A spur trail connection will be built to connect the Chattahoochee River Greenway into the Silver Comet Connector allowing connectivity into the entire City of Atlanta trail system.
