Ribbon Cutting and Celebratory Ride on the Cherokee Avenue Bike Lane

October 31, 2022

ATLDOT held a ribbon cutting and community bike ride to commemorate the installation of safety improvements and a two-way protected cycle track on Cherokee Avenue SE in the Grant Park neighborhood. ATLDOT Interim Commissioner Marsha Anderson-Bomar, Deputy Commissioner Jessica Fulton, and District 1 Councilmember Jason Winston cut the ribbon at Georgia Ave outside of the Zoo Atlanta entrance to officially mark the completion of the project. The commemoration concluded with a group ride down the bike lane alongside Grant Park. Bicycles for the event were provided by Lime Bike.

Update (December 7, 2022):

Another great safety update has been added to the Cherokee Avenue bike lane project! After collaboration with a Grant Park community group, ATLDOT installed planters on each side of the Cherokee Avenue Bridge to create a more substantial delineator between vehicle and bike lanes.
