Effective immediately, Cheshire Bridge Road from Woodland Avenue NE to Faulkner Road NE is closed to all traffic until further notice. The bridge is closed for the safety of the traveling public due to damage caused by a fire effective Wednesday, August 4, 2021.

Cheshire Bridge Rebuild Update
The Atlanta Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the partial reopening of Cheshire Bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek. On Monday, October 31, 2022, crews opened one lane in both directions to traffic. C. W. Matthews construction crews performed work both daily and nightly, to help accomplish the reopening as scheduled. The remaining lanes will be reopened in Spring 2023 following the completion of ongoing utility relocation work.
Cheshire Bridge Rebuild Update
Work continues on the replacement of the Cheshire Bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek. Beginning Friday, September 23, 2022, contractor C. W. Matthews will have construction crews performing work both daily and nightly, Monday through Sunday (details below). This schedule will continue throughout the duration of the project. This work will include placing the final beams across the bridge footings, shore wall work, and any remaining utility relocations that are necessary.
Cheshire Bridge Rebuild Update
Work on the replacement of the Cheshire Bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek is progressing well. Crews have poured concrete footings at the base of the bridge and have laid the beams across the bridge footings. A total of eight (8) beams were installed on span #2. Crews will now work along the shore walls. C. W. Matthews is the designated contractor for bridge replacement project on behalf of City of Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT).

The City of Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) has contracted with C. W. Matthews for the design and rebuild of the Cheshire Bridge over South Fork Peachtree Creek. This comes after accepting, reviewing, and evaluating all bids submitted in January 2022.
