The Office of Engineering is responsible for developing standards and procedures for the design of capital projects, ensuring consistent and efficient implementation of projects and compliance with applicable regulations, including public engagement and pre-construction activities. Engineering staff is comprised of engineers and technical subject matter experts who are responsible for traffic engineering investigations, signing and pavement marking studies and design; traffic calming assessments and design; in-house capital project design; technical reviews for consultant-designed capital projects and private development projects, including those of partner organizations; right-of-way encroachment agreements, abandonment requests and right-of-way dedications; and right-of-way permit application intake and technical reviews.
