Design and Construction Updates
Cheshire Bridge Road NE from Faulkner Road NE to Wellbourne Drive NE remains closed to all traffic until further notice. We thank the community for its patience as the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) has assessed the fire damage to the bridge over the CSX railroad on Cheshire Bridge Road. ATLDOT has successfully collaborated with various agencies and partners in a coordinated effort to develop a design and construction strategy for repairing and reopening the bridge.

Cheshire Bridge Repair Update
October 31, 2022
The Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) is scheduled to begin repairs to the bridge over CSX railroad on Cheshire Bridge Road. The bridge has been closed for the safety of the traveling public due to damage caused by a fire on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.
The repair project will include shoring of existing utilities to avoid utility relocation, demolition/removal of the damaged bridge section, repairs to the existing bridge structure, and construction of a retaining wall and new roadway to connect the existing roadway to the end of the structure.
