Temporary Road Closure

Traffic Advisory: Eastbound Lane Closure and Detour: Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW from Laurel Avenue SW to Wellington Street SW

When

Eastbound lane closure will go into effect at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, and remain in place around the clock until the repair work is completed. Local traffic access will be maintained for the duration of the construction.

Where

Work will take place near 1566 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW

What

The eastbound lane closure will accommodate restoration work to be performed by theDepartment of Watershed Management near 1566 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive NW.  The work will include sidewalk, asphalt, median and curb repairs. Traffic will be restored to normal operations once work is completed.

Beginning on Saturday, October 9, the following detour routes will be in effect:

Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW eastbound: 

Turn left onto West Lake Ave NW northbound 

Turn right onto Joseph E Boone Blvd NW eastbound 

Turn right onto Joseph E Lowery Blvd NW southbound 

JosephE Lowery Blvd intersects Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW

 

I-20Westbound Off-Ramp: 

Continue north past Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW onto West Lake Ave NW northbound 

Turn right onto Joseph E Boone Blvd NW eastbound 

Turn right onto Joseph E Lowery Blvd NW southbound 

JosephE Lowery Blvd intersects Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW

 

WestLake Ave NW southbound: 

Continue south past Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW

Turn left onto Ralph D Abernathy Blvd SW southbound 

Turn left onto Westview Dr SW eastbound 

Bear right at Agnes Jones Pl SW 

Turn left onto Joseph E Lowery Blvd SW northbound 

JosephE Lowery Blvd intersects Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW

  

MartinLuther King Jr Dr NW Eastbound Local Traffic: 

Turn right onto Laurel Ave SW southbound 

Turn left onto Mozley Pl SW eastbound 

Turn left onto Wellington St SW northbound 

Turn right onto Martin Luther King Jr Dr NW eastbound 

Please observe closure restrictions, pay close attention to “caution” and “slow” signs, and watch out for traffic control personnel in the area.
